STEWARDSHIP: Gratitude in Action - Our Way of Life
A Taste of Carmel:
Exploring Carmelite Spirituality
Do you feel a desire to grow in intimacy with God? Are you searching for a deeper spiritual guidance in Christian living? Do you have a devotion to the Blessed Mother or one or more Carmelite saints? If you can answer “yes” or even “maybe” to one or more of these questions, then you might like to have “A Taste of Carmel”!
Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Pray for us
Carmelite spirituality is Catholic spirituality that focuses on the particular gifts that God has given to the Carmelite Order for the benefit of the Church and the World. The Carmelite Way of Life is to live “in allegiance to Jesus Christ”. The heart of this allegiance is a commitment to three keystones of Carmelite life: prayer, community, and service.
The ministry of “A Taste of Carmel” begins its third year in our parish. We will, among other things, explore The Practice of the Presence of God, a collection of conversations, letters, and spiritual maxims by Brother Lawrence of the Resurrection, a 17th century Carmelite. Also, we will delve into Pope Francis’s Apostolic Exhortation, Gaudete et Exsultate, On the Call to Holiness in Today’s World.
The facilitator for this ministry is Ruth Ann Pilney, who is a professed Third Order Lay Carmelite. She will be happy to answer questions and take your registration information. You may reach her at rapilney79@centurylink.net or by phone or text at 530-295-7792.
