The Assembly is commonly referred to as the 4^th Degree. The acronym comes from the assembly members now by decree are called Sir Knights. Council’s are made up members who start as a 1^st degree member and advance to 2^nd and finally 3^rd degree. To become a Sir Knight one must hold standing in a council as a 3^rd degree member. The assemblies while ever as much a part of the Knights of Coulombs to operate as a separate unit. Purpose is to be able to support more that 1 council, as the visible unit of the Knights of Columbus. The 4^th degree charge is Patriotism, hence the color guard or honor guard corps. While it is not a requirement to purchase “Regalia” and participate in the guard it is encouraged to do so in support all Knights & Catholic’s.
