A history of Saint George Catholic church must begin from the time Bishop Scanlan founded Saint John Catholic Church in Silver Reef in 1879, and continue until the current Saint George remodeling project is finished in 2010.

This history includes the purchase of a Presbyterian mission in 1951. The building was located between what now is the Rectory and the present church. Bishop Federal established this parish on June 8 1958. Parishioners were able to buy property to build the present church in 1991.

Once the current building remodelling is complete, church tours will rely upon the information from the book "Faith Flourishes in the Desert: a History of Saint George Catholic Church" by Lorraine M. Boyce.

This book is available for sale at $10.00 in the Church Office. All proceeds go towards Religious Education in the Parish.
